First up we have The Cactus Duo, a pair of polishes inspired by The Cactus by O. Henry. I just love how Amy, the genius behind Literary Lacquers, links her polishes to literature. Being the book lover that I am, I find the more I get to know other lovers of literature, the more beautiful stories there are to discover. Let's see what Amy has to share about The Cactus.

The Cactus tells us the story of the pompous, arrogant, broken-hearted Trysdale. The story opens with him upset after watching the woman he loves marry another man. During their courtship, she had heard that he spoke fluent Spanish, he kept quiet and allowed her to assume that it was true. When he proposed to her, she sent her answer the next day. A cactus in a pot bearing a tag with a single word. Ventomarme. Not hearing anything else from her, he decided that the cactus was a refusal of his proposal and he turned cold toward her. Only after attending her wedding to another man, does he find out that ventomarme means come and take me.

Ohhhh I am so intrigued! Now I want to read this!!! Let's get to the beautiful polishes shall we?!

This is Ventomarme and it is a lovely grey-green-blue scattered holographic polish with silver microflakes and gorgeous blue glass flecks. This built up nicely in three coats and is shown here with a top coat.

This polish is a sneaky polish, it looks more blue in the bottle then more green on the nail and the flakies just float in depth. This polish screams succulent to me and now that I know the backstory it fits perfectly with it's inspiration! So much depth in this polish, you'll find yourself distracted while wearing it. Definitely unique in my large collection.

This polish was designed for Jennifer Sky Walker's (Musings of the wife of a Jedi) blogiversary as well, happy fourth blogiversary Jennifer! :)

Next we have Come and Take Me, the translation of the last polish. This is a beautiful jelly fire opal polish packed in fire-orange jelly polish packed with holographic microglitter and opalescent flakies. I have shown here is three coats, and as my nails at their peak length at the moment, you can see a little peek of visible nail line. My normal nail length and this wouldn't be nearly as visible. I found the formula on this one to be on the thicker side since it was packed with so much character, but it wasn't difficult to work with.

This polish was dedicated to Debbie Crumpet, who recently retired after years of adding camaraderie, dedication and skillz to the blogging and nail art world. We will miss you Debbie!

The next two polishes are inspired by book club books that Literary Lacquers Facebook Fan group has read. Not only do we all love polish, we love books and we just love gabbing about what we've recently read and get together (via Facebook) every other month to chat about the groups book club pick. After we finish a book, we post ideas for a polish to commemorate the book we just read.

Now these polishes are only for the members of the Literary (&) Lacquers Facebook Fan group members, but you are all more than welcome to join us! We'd love to have you!

First up we have Serious Nap Rays, which was designed with Jennifer Sky Walker and was inspired by Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. This polish is AMAZING and is my favorite of this whole lot. This is a gorgeous moody grey-purple-taupe linear holo polish packed with orange shimmer, pink glass fleck and purple flakies. This polish takes a different life in different lights and as you move your nails you spy a different characteristic of it. I looove this polish. This was opaque in two coats and was easy to apply, shown with top coat.

I found a quote from the book which explains the name a bit in case you're interested (I wasn't in the book club yet when they read this so I had to look it up!).

“Homework is not an option. My bed is sending out serious nap rays. I can't help myself. The fluffy pillows and warm comforter are more powerful than I am. I have no choice but to snuggle under the covers.”

Next we have My Whirlwind Other Half. This was designed with Jennifer Zakroff and inspired by We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler. The Whirlwind Other Half in this story is actually a chimp who the main character considers "my twin, my funhouse mirror, my whirlwind other half and I loved her as a sister.

This is a sheer shimmer white crelly packed with holographic microglitter and rainbow opalescent flakies. This polish is an opal in a bottle. I used three coats here, and you can still see some visible nail line. I think this polish would be a lovely topper over an array of colors! The polish was a bit thick because there is so much going on in it, but not difficult to apply.

All four of these polishes retail for $10 and are available Monday March 21 at the Literary Lacquers Etsy Shop, launch time TBD, I think. The two book club polishes are available to the Facebook Fan Group members March 21 through April 16. Another awesome thing about Literary Lacquers?! Stress free shopping. Amy always keeps a super stocked shop so you never have to worry about missing out on all her gorgeous polishes.

So which of these are your favorite? I think they are lovely but I especially love Serious Nap Rays and Ventomarme!
